Ps Elaine is from Bacolod City, Philippines where she pastors a church and cares for children at risk through a ministry called Fishes And Loaves Inc. (for a video of their ministry, click here). Elaine is a single mother of one, who has now become a mom to many because she discovered that the source of a mother’s love is the love of God the Father. Anyone can give love but the highest and purest form of love comes the unselfish heart of God.
In sharing her own experiences of learning to love difficult children and adults, she pointed us back to God who loves us with an everlasting love when we are at our very worst. Jesus says it so clearly in John 15:12 “Love each other as I have loved you.” If God showed us such patience and compassion to keep on loving us even when we were stubborn and selfish and unwilling to respond or reciprocate, then His love marks the path for us to follow. We see this so beautifully expressed in the love of a mother, who demonstrates amazing care, compassion, sacrifice and selfless giving in order to meet the needs of her child.
Elaine also gave us a personal word that she received from God for those who have been giving and enduring in love without receiving anything back. So many people become weary and discouraged in loving but Jesus reminds us that as His children, every act of love is ultimately done unto Him and for Him and on behalf of Him. We become His hands, feet and voice to those who need love and as we do this, He thanks us for allowing Him to express Himself through us. We have the privilege of allowing Him to love others through us and when we do this, His heart overflows.
We are often ready to give up trying to love. The patience and persistence needed seems too much for us but here are some promises to help you to not grow weary in doing good and showing love:
I Tim 2:24 “And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.”
Jer 31:25 “I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.”
Do you need a fresh love infilling? Go to Him, ask to be renewed in His love. He is faithful to do this in us. On Sunday, one of our young adults described a picture that she saw: “At the end of today's worship, I saw a white tube, with one end connected to my heart, the other end goes up towards the heaven, then blood is pumping in through the tube.” God can directly inject His love into our hearts. Rom 5:5 talks about this: “And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.”
A fresh impartation of the Father’s love is coming. Run to Him, ask for this miracle of love to be poured into your heart. His love make all the difference!
Grateful for a hope that does not disappoint!
