Faith Promise Sunday #2: Ephesians 2:8-10

This week, CPBC’s old friend and longtime member – before he retuned to Sweden in 2010 – Hakan Gabrielsson brought the Word for our second Faith Promise Sunday.

From the passage of Ephesians 2:8-10, Hakan reminded us that "we are God’s workmanship": God has made us exactly as He would like us to be, given us gifts and the calling that He wants us to walk in; "created in Christ Jesus to do good works": He has prepared good works for us; "which God prepared in advance for us to do": the works are prepared before hand for us to walk in them.

It is largely due to this that Hakan prays a simple prayer: to be at the right place, at the right time, to meet the right people. This is a simple prayer that we can all pray and God answers prayers like this because He has prepared good works in advance for us to do in order to be in the centre of His will.

When Hakan founded Touching Asia over 20 years ago, it was based on this foundational prayer. The good works that God has prepared in advance for him to do? Touching lives in Myanmar, India & Nepal! Today, Touching Asia builds Bible Schools, ministers to the poor and rescues young girls that are victims of human trafficking sold to the rape-trade!

In essence that’s what CPBC’s Faith Promise Giving is all about. It is personally trusting the Lord for finances to make a commitment – over and beyond our regular tithes and offerings. Knowing that the missionaries and organisations that we support are answering a call to the good works that God has prepared in advance. So as we pledge, we are partnering with God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works! What a joy this is!

Wishing all our Chinese readers a Blessed Chinese New Year! During this season of festivities, let’s all pray to be at the right place, at the right time, to meet the right people!

Blessings,

Pastor Simon
