We all know this verse, but do we actually believe it? There seems to be a big gap between what we know, what we believe and what actually happens. So, why the gap? The first challenge is to “believe”. Can you make yourself believe? No! But you can get help:
Rom 8:25-27 NLT But if we look forward to something we don't yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently. And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness.
Secondly, we don’t always pray according to God’s heart and his will. There is a solution to this problem as well:
Rom 8:26-27 NLT For example, we don't know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God's own will.
There doesn’t have to be a gap! We can pray according to God’s will, believe, and we will receive. It’s totally possible to get our prayers answered all the time.
Take for example praying for revival: We sometimes get frustrated that we pray and pray but we don’t see any immediate answers to our prayers. The Lord showed me a prophetic vision recently; He gave me a vision similar the one in this graphic representation of a tsunami. When an earthquake occurs in the sea floor, there is an upthrust of the tectonic plates displacing vast quantities of water which generates a massive amount of energy. This causes oscillatory waves in ever increasing circles at speeds of up to 800km/h.
He showed me that when we pray earnestly, He shifts the “tectonic plates” in the spirit. A massive amount of energy is released and a wave begins to form. Now, out in the open ocean, this will hardly even be detected on the surface but this energy wave is moving at an enormous velocity. Just like that, God is busy “shifting things in the spirit” on our behalf. When the wave reaches shallower waters, the wave length and speed decreases but the amplitude (wave height) increases dramatically causing great catastrophe on land. Here Marlon is busy sharing about the mighty miracle God did in his life with John’s (standing on the left) family in Tarlac. Two years ago, a lump was detected in his head beneath his brain. A biopsy was done here in Singapore and it was found to be malignant. The tumour eventually grew to the size of a tennis ball and he was literally standing at “death’s door”. After a mammoth battle in prayer, the tumour was successfully removed and he is now cancer free and proclaiming God’s goodness. (The tumour was found to be benign after removal). At this very first meeting in Tarlac, six people decided to follow Jesus.
We went to pray for John’s sick uncle on a nearby farm and the whole family accepted Christ into their lives.
Our driver also received Christ and was so eager to be baptised. Our driver also received Christ and was so eager to be baptised.
This is Mhel’s house, where twelve children are “fostered” here. Some of them have parents who work abroad and others don’t have parents at all. All of them received Christ the day that we visited them and shared the gospel with them. PRAISE THE LORD. Only He could have prepared their hearts.
God kept sending us more and more people to minister to and share the gospel with.
Even on the last day, when we were about to leave for the airport, Don’s family arrived. They had just taken a three hour trip to give us a parcel to take to their father/husband. All of them joyfully received Jesus into their lives and went home rejoicing. It was like the book of Acts all over again. By the end of the trip, over fifty people had received Jesus.
Yes, sometimes even when we have little faith (confession: like I had at the start of this trip), God will use it to do great things!
Testimony from Ivan: Last Sunday I prayed for Bryan’s right ankle. He experienced pain every morning in that ankle. On Monday morning……NO PAIN! Praise God, we can expect answers to even the simplest of prayers so I encourage you to KEEP ON PRAYING and see what God will do!
Eph 6:18 NLT Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
